Less Tiny Keyboard (60%)

I ended up buying the BM60EC and a wooden case (rosewood) to go with it.
Here are a couple of example builds of the board:

Seems like it's a fun build. I like the spacing of the layout, and particularly the fact that there are no blockers or gaps in the layout, but it is a little strange that the switches are north facing on the PCB.

Keycaps

I don't have a set of caps, but I did buy a PMK grab bag a couple of years ago, so one option is to make a keyboard like this: https://www.reddit.com/r/MechanicalKeyboards/comments/896pz4/this_is_why_i_got_a_grab_bag/ - Gross.
If RAMA ever ships my Soya CAPS, I'll put them on instead.
Update: Purchased these SA caps from AliExpress in both Green, and Green/White colourways, and was thinking I could combine them to make something similar to Dasher/Dancer, which is one of the most sophisticated keycap sets I know.
The keycaps didn't quite turn out like I wanted. I think I'd just go for a single colourway next time,

Now I just need to find a good knob...

Knob Options (or knobtions, if you will)

The BM60EC comes with a stepped (not linear) infinitely spinning encoder, and looks similar to this encoder from LCSC

  • Chapter 1 Copper Knob
  • Was looking for wooden knobs, and found PickKnobs on ETSY that makes guitar and keyboard knobs out of interesting timbers. I could probably ask for a custom width of knob, as I think in the space, I'd need about a 16mm diameter knob, rather than 18.5mm.
  • Eventually settled on this 13mm knob from SwedenKnobs on Etsy - looks very cool, and nice options for customisation. It looks and works great, but I would have gone for their new slightly wider 16mm Moog clone knob if it had been available at the time.

Stabilisers

Durock V3 kit from Switchkeys. Tried Epsi mod and the stabilised keys sound nice.
