The intricacies of Asian ornament and my attempts to re-create it.
I've always been fascinated by patterns, but never more inspired to create them than when I loaned out a book from the library called "The Grammar of Ornament" by Owen Jones. This is truly a fascinating book, and an astonishing reference to have access to. As you may have noticed though, I have a bit of a thing for Japanese art, and it quite surprised me that I didn't find much in the way of high quality Japanese patterns in the book. So of course I set out to create my own! My initial offerings are quite simple, and I hope to expand on them over time, and maybe get to the point where my digital patterns are as fine as chiyogami paper.
